As chosen by a houseplant lover.
Whether it’s a birthday or a calendar holiday like Christmas, choosing the perfect gift for the people in your life is not always easy. There are so many options, and yet somehow, not enough? But, if the person you are shopping for is a houseplant lover then you have come to the right spot. I’m here to make this process easy for you, because there are so many things that we houseplant lovers want (*cough* need) to keep our indoor jungles thriving. Here are the best gifts for houseplant lovers, as chosen by me – a diehard houseplant lover.
1. Houseplants (of course!)
This one pretty much goes without saying but still had to be said. Make this gift extra meaningful by picking out a plant that your plant lover has had on their wishlist for a while. Although really, any plant will usually make us happy.
2. Plant Subscription
3. Repotting Mat
4. Pots & Pot Covers
Buying pots and pot covers can add up over time which is why I always love getting them as gifts. Especially if they are stylish or expensive ones that I have been oogling but probably wouldn’t actually buy for myself. Get to know your plant friend’s style and choose out some nice pots for their plants – I guarantee they’ll appreciate it!
5. Grow Light
This one may not be universal, but I can tell you that lots of plant enthusiasts won’t say no to a good quality grow light. However, this may be one that you want to check with your plant friend on first to make sure they would actually get good use out of a grow light. Look for full-spectrum LED and then work within your budget.
6. Macrame Hanger
You can’t really go wrong with gifting a macrame hanger (unless your recipient hates macrame I suppose). I will admit that I have gifted several macrame hangers over the years to various plant friends in my circle. This is made easier by the fact that I make my own, but regardless they are always appreciated and put to good use. If you are interested in trying to make your own they are super easy to make and there are lots of great tutorials out there. Otherwise, you can easily find people selling their own macrame hangers on Facebook Marketplace or Etsy.
7. Mini Humidifier
8. Moss Pole
9. Gardening Tool Kit
Gardening tool kits are pretty standard and easy to find and are always a good choice for your green-thumbed friends. Even if they already have a lot of the tools, it is super convenient to have multiples on hand. Plus, gardening tool kits are available at a range of price points from expensive and bougie to affordable and practical. Personally I don’t even know how many spades I have, but it’s a good thing I have more than one because I have always misplaced at least 2 to 3 of them at one time.
10. Plant Stand
Plant stands are another one of those things that are really handy to have but can add up over time. I have numerous plant stands but I almost never buy them – most of mine I found for free or purchased second hand and they aren’t always in the best shape. So getting a plant stand that I have been eyeing from my favourite shop as a gift is a big deal.
